LONDON, ENGLAND (2nd June 2026) — Healthtech-1, powering 26% of the country's GP practices and 1 in 4 new patient registrations, today published findings from the first independent evaluation of its Automated Registrations product, conducted by Unity Insights and commissioned by Health Innovation Kent Surrey Sussex (Health Innovation KSS).

The evaluation, carried out by Unity Insights across 15 GP practices in NHS Surrey Heartlands ICB, found that 97% of registrations were fully automated, with 85% requiring no administrator action at all. Where admin input was still needed, the Healthtech-1's tools saved an average of nine minutes per registration.

The health economic analysis found a benefit-cost ratio of £1.48 for every £1 invested – a figure that could rise to £1.58 if the technology is rolled out across Surrey and Sussex, representing a net present value of £679,000 over five years.

Beyond efficiency, the evaluation revealed a step-change in the quality of patient data captured at registration. Ethnicity coding completeness rose from 23.8% to 96.4%, and alcohol screening coding from 24.0% to 75.9%. Evaluators said these improvements could support more accurate risk stratification, better population health management, and more effective targeting of preventative care for the health service.

Uptake within Surrey Heartlands was 92%, with nearly 90% of participating practices choosing to self-fund the service beyond the initial 12-month ICB-funded period.

Matthew Payne, Head of Policy, Partnerships, and Marketing at Healthtech-1, said: "Health Innovation Kent, Surrey, and Sussex plays a unique role in turning innovation into real-world impact. That's what happened here: grassroots innovation, supported by the ICB and Health Innovation Network. For Healthtech-1 and the GP practices we serve, support from Health Innovation KSS and Surrey & Sussex ICB has helped unlock adoption across the region at a pace that simply wouldn't happen otherwise."

Healthtech-1's Automated Registrations is now live in over 26% (1,600) of GP practices across England. The company is an NHS Innovation Accelerator and NHS Clinical Entrepreneur participant.
